AFL Mid Season Break

We are half way through the AFL season and what a year it has been so far. The big story has to be the St Kilda Saints and the Essendon Bombers who have both proven the football betting markets wrong by fantastic starts to the season.

The betting markets offer no real surprises with Geelong firmly entrenched as the clear favourites to win their second flag in three years. 888sport.com has the Cats at $1.91 to win the Grand Final. This is one of the best prices going around for the Cats and they should be nearly impossible to beat if they play at their best.

Other teams that have had an excellent start to the season are the Western Bulldogs and the Collingwood Magpies. The Bulldogs are clearly third pick in the betting ($8.00) and deserve to be considered. They are even better than they were last year and the extra twelve months has certainly hardened up many of the younger bodies making them serious contenders. The Pies ($11.00) had a bad start to the year but have turned their fortunes around in the last few games and should make their presence felt in the finals later in the year.

With the good comes the disappointing and last year’s Premiers the Hawthorn Hawks ($13.00) have been very discouraging. Injuries have ravaged the team that stole the Premiership in 2008 but it is more than injuries that have destroyed the Hawks form this year.

888sport has markets on all the AFL games and futures bets so don’t waste any time in taking advantage of the safest online bookmakers in the market place.
