Fire in pit lane fuels Edmonton Indy Car Race

The Rexall Edmonton Indy Car Race is over for another year. It was a tough day at the office for Canadian drivers in the race that saw Australian racer Will Power record a win for Penske Racing.

The Rexall Edmonton Indy Car Race has been run and won. Motor racing is a big sport in Canada and interest in the series is growing but it wasn’t a great day for the Canadians on the track. It was an even worse day for Brazilian driver Kanaan who received burns when his cockpit exploded into flames after a fuelling problem. Nearby Penske pit crew members jumped over the wall, dumped a bucket of water on Kanaan and then sprayed the car with fire extinguishers. Kanaan received 2nd degree burns but is doing well in hospital and even managed to wave to his fans while he was being dragged off the track.

Australian racer Will Power lead from start to finish and finally saluted the judges for him maiden Indy Car win. It was the Aussie’s first season with Penske Racing and he was happy to record the win in his yellow Dallara Honda. He landed some good bets at 888sport especially from Australian betters who have been following Power closely.

Toronto’s Paul Casey who is currently racing for the KV Racing Technology Team started in ninth position and got off to a flyer, moving up three spots in the first three laps of the race. Canadian 888sport.com betters started to get excited at the prospect of Casey causing a boil over but he failed to make any further ground on the leaders. Casey needed the leaders to find trouble but it never came;
“There was no attrition today. Nobody made mistakes. There were no yellows, there was no opportunity to make positions.”

Ales Tagliani of Quebec finished in 13th spot after starting the race from 17th position. He never really got going and in reality was never a winning chance after the race Tagliani explained that he had car trouble.
“We struggled pretty much the entire weekend with a really unbalanced car, a lack of grip, and that carried on all the way through the race.”

lllllddd888sport is the best place when it comes to motor sport betting but let’s just hope we can get a Canadian back on top of the podium where they belong.
