Rugby back on the menu

It might be the middle of summer and the All Blacks are enjoying a well earned rest but there is another world class rugby competition about to get underway in Europe.

The Six Nations Championship from Europe is always a fantastic spectacle. It might not showcase the flair and brilliance of the All Black encounters or even the Super 14 games but it is a hotly contested affair with the best Northern Hemisphere teams fighting out for their version of the Tri-Nations.

888sport will bring all New Zealand rugby fans a feast of rugby betting over the next two months as some of the sports oldest rivals go head to head. There is no surprise that the French are the outright favourites at $2.62 closely followed by the Irish at $3.25. The other two big chances are the Welsh and the English who are both at $5.00. The Scots and the Italians appear to be only making up the numbers but don’t be surprised if the Scots show improvement this year.

The first round of games is already listed at 888sport so you can get on early and avoid the rush. The competition starts on 6 February when Ireland hosts the Italians. The Italians are getting a 20 point head start in this opening match and might need every one of them. On the same day the English host the Welsh that are currently getting a 3 point head start. You would think the winner of this game will really push the favourites for the title, particularly the Welsh, if they can win away from home.

The last game sees the Scots host the French and the home team gets an inviting 7 point start. The French are traditionally slow starters and the Scots may be the value bet of the first round.
