Bonus point Blues

888sport has taken some good mid season bets on the Blues to make the Super 14 finals and even win the Super 14 competition. It appears that those betting on the rugby still see the Blues as an outside chance of scraping into the finals. The only reason they are still in a position to make the finals is that they have at least been able to rack up plenty of bonus points even though they have lost plenty of games. They are only a point behind the Brumbies who are in sixth position even though they have lost an extra game.

The Blues travel to South Africa this week where they will play three games over the next three weekends. The first game will virtually be a knockout game against the Sharks. The Sharks have been on a roll after a slow start but are still a long way from playing their best football. If the Blues can get past this game with a win they will start favourite in the betting over both the Lions and the Cheetahs. Wins in all three games will have them in a strong position to push for that final finals birth. They end the season in the local derby against the Chiefs and that could be a very exciting game if things go right for the Aucklanders in Africa.

In other Super 14 news the Reds continue to defy the odds and have moved into fourth position on the table. Every expert in the world thought they had more chance of winning the wooden spoon than making the finals and it has been a meteoric rise for the Queenslanders. They have another hard game against the Stormers this weekend where the winner will secure third spot on the table.
