Imposing Girona striker Artem Dovbyk is poised for a big role at Euro 2024. Some might be considering Dovbyk as top goal scorer at this summer’s tournament once they see his football odds.
There’s no questioning Dovbyk’s importance to Ukraine’s sports betting chances this summer.

He has just had a prolific season in La Liga, with Girona exceeding all expectations. For Ukraine, he has already made an impact, and will be looking to cause an upset or two in Germany.
If you don’t follow La Liga, you might not know too much about Ukraine’s number nine. Let’s take a look at his career to date before the Euros get underway.
How Much Is Artem Dovbyk Worth?
Artem Dovbyk net worth estimates vary considerably. There is a consensus he is into the millions, but it could be anywhere from a couple of million to 10+.
Dovbyk’s personal finances are understandably not made public, so there is a fair amount of guesswork when it comes to figuring out his overall worth.
One thing we have reliable reporting on, however, is Dovbyk’s salary. According to Capology, Dovbyk is on roughly £45,000 per week at Girona.

This is nothing extraordinary by the standards of modern football wages, but it’s still more than the average UK annual salary.
In 2023-24, there were 265 Premier League players on more than £45,000 per week. Dovbyk had a similar salary to Bryan Mbuemo, Calvin Bassey, and Mario Lemina. He earned less than the majority of Premier League strikers, including Neal Maupay, Joao Pedro, and Manor Solomon.
The Ukrainian is bound to receive some cash from Nike for wearing the Nike Mercurial Superfly 9. There will be other revenue streams for a player of his profile, but that will still leave his total income a long way off that of some of his goal-scoring peers around Europe.
Record Move To Girona
Girona broke their transfer record to sign Artem Dovbyk from Dnipro for a fee of around £7 million in the 2023 summer transfer window. He signed a contract until 2028.
There have been rumours about the legality of Dovbyk’s transfer from Dnipro to Girona, but all parties have thoroughly denied these accusations.
Back in May, Girona manager Michel Sanchez was very supportive of Dovbyk’s push for the top scorer award in La Liga.
“The top scorer thing is important, it is a goal we have because it is recognition for everyone. We have always said that individual merits cannot be achieved in a way that is not due to the collective.
“But it has happened with Ballons d’Or, World Cups, very top players that without a team behind them would be impossible. The top scorer would be given to Dovbyk, but it will be a recognition for everyone.”
Release Clause
According to Fabrizio Romano, Artem Dovbyk has a €40 million release clause in his current contract.
Romano reported that Girona are not willing to negotiate on a possible Dovbyk sale, and would require the full release clause for a deal to go through.
Napoli, who are expected to sell Victor Osimhen this summer, are one of several teams interested in Dovbyk.
Including to a high-profile football intermediary, there are several other clubs considering a move for the Ukrainian.
Doğan Ercan said, “Yes, its true. His [Dovbyk] transfer to Napoli is a concrete possibility…
“Yes, Napoli are among these three clubs. There are no other Serie A teams interested in Artem.”
Of course, it is a legal requirement that every player in La Liga has a release clause.
While release clauses in the Premier League often signal that a player is likely to move, there is no guarantee that Dovbyk wants to move on from Girona after such a good season. It will be interesting to see which clubs interest him if he is open to it, though.
Chelsea Rumours
Chelsea, along with Napoli, have been heavily linked with Artem Dovbyk. Despite Nicolas Jackson’s improved form and links to Victor Osimhen, the Blues appear a frontrunner to sign Dovbyk.
The Ukrainian would be a cheaper alternative to Osimhen, and has all the attributes to slot into Enzo Maresca’s front line.
The Blues are facing a financial crunch this summer, however, which is bound to restrict their spending power. They might look elsewhere for reinforcements if Maresca believes in their current attacking options.
La Liga Top Scorer
Artem Dovbyk scored 24 goals in La Liga for Girona. He was the competition’s top scorer, and this was his joint-most productive league campaign after scoring 24 league goals for Dnipro in 2022-23.
Over the last 365 days, Dovbyk is in the 94th percentile in non-penalty expected goals per 90. While he’s already 26, this kind of campaign is bound to catch the eye of Europe’s elite clubs.
Style of Play
Standing at 189 centimetres, Artem Dovbyk has the attributes of an old-school target man. He’s a much more complete player than that archetype, though, as reflected by his eight assists in the 2023-24 La Liga season.
Dovbyk creates chances for his teammates through holding the ball up and laying it off. He is an imposing physical figure in the final third, as reflected by his sky-high aerial duel success rate.
Defenders can be bullied by him with his back to goal. At Girona, he was utilised in the width of the penalty area to occupy centre backs and get on the end of crosses.
Another manager might tweak Dovbyk’s role, but the general blueprint will be the same. Use his size, use his link-up play, and keep him near the goal.
Having a player of his stature is also value for breaking opponent’s presses with direct balls up to him.
