Ex-Reading forward George Pușcaș has already played for 11 clubs. He’s only 28 years old. The majority of his time has been spent in Italy, with several loan moves, including to Bari in 2023-24.

Due to Hungarian ancestry, Pușcaș could have represented Hungary. Instead, he opted to play for his country of birth, Romania.

Despite former Romania manager Sándor Egervári deeming him substandard when he was playing in the Romanian second division, Pușcaș’ performances for the under 21s could not go unnoticed.

He was ultimately handed his first senior cap in 2018, and has been a regular for the Tricolorii ever since.

While he is not the most well-known player featured in European football betting markets, Pușcaș has forged a solid career since being named to the 2019 Euro under-21 Team of the Tournament.

Before you place any live betting wagers on Pușcaș, let’s learn a bit more about the former Inter striker…

How Much is George Pușcaș Worth?

George Pușcaș net worth is projected in the £2 million region. With Pușcaș spending the majority of his career in the second tiers of Italian and English football, financial information is harder to come by than it is for some of his higher-paid peers.

His income is still going to be considerable compared to normal people, though it will be a long way off the riches raked in by stars like Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford.

Estimations of Pușcaș’ wages are around the £18,000 mark. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Bari from Genoa. A £18,000 weekly wage seems in the right ballpark for a player at Genoa.

Salary Sport reported that the Romanian was on £14,000 per week when he was playing for Reading, which would be a decent income for a Championship player

There will have been some endorsement income throughout Pușcaș’ career to contribute to his net worth. He wears Nike boots, and donned the Nike Phantom GT boots during the 2022-23 season.

How Tall Is George Pușcaș?

George Pușcaș stands at 6’0 tall (1.84 metres). He weighs 77 kilograms.

He’s the same height as Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Ramos, and Richarlison. Pușcaș is around average height for a footballer in Europe’s top five leagues

George Pușcaș is no relation to Hungarian great Ferenc Puskas. In fact, George is not too keen on comparisons with the iconic figure from a rival nation.

He credits his parents with a vital role in his development. Speaking in an interview in 2021, George explained the meaning of his name.

“To be honest, I am Romanian and have nothing to do with his name. I’ll do it my way. I’ll be the Romanian Puscas.

“The name back home in Romania means rifleman.”

In a parallel universe, Pușcaș could have ended up at Arsenal instead of Inter.

“Arsenal had been following me since I was just 15 playing for my local team. They called and invited me to London. I trained with them and even did a session with Arsene Wenger coaching. I did well.

“Arsenal said they would wait a year before signing me for their academy so I went home and in that time Inter Milan offered me a contract without trials. At that age, you just see them both as big clubs and Inter wanted me at that moment so I went there.”

Reported Salary

George Pușcaș’ 2023-24 salary was reportedly £14,000 per week. That equates to £728,000 per year. For context, the average UK pre-tax salary in 2024 is £35,464. Pușcaș earns that in under three weeks.

His salary has not always been this high, of course, but he reportedly got a significant pay rise when he signed with Reading, which he has maintained.

Upon acquiring Pușcaș for a club record fee of around £8 million, then Reading manager Jose Gomes said, “George is a young, hungry, talented forward with a natural instinct to score goals.

Without goals you cannot win games and we now have different options to choose from in the final third of the field. I am looking forward to welcoming him into our squad at Reading.”

Important Goal vs Israel

George Pușcaș scored a decisive goal for Romania against Israel in Euro 2024 qualifying. After Eran Zahavi gave Israel the lead only a couple of minutes in, Pușcaș tied the score at 1-1 before the 10-minute mark.

Following a long-range shot, Pușcaș anticipated the rebound perfectly to head home into an almost-empty net with the goalkeeper on the floor.

Ianis Hagi netted the winner for Romania to secure their place at this summer’s Euros. This is the fourth time Romania have qualified for the competition since the turn of the century – they did not win a game at the 2008 or 2016 editions.

The Tricolorii will feature in Euro 2024 Group E betting tips alongside Belgium, Ukraine, and Slovakia.
