With Ivan Rakitić retiring from international football half a decade ago and Luka Modrić into the backend of his thirties, Mateo Kovacic is more important than ever to Croatia.
Kovačić, a four-time Champions League winner, won his first Premier League title in 2023-24. Followers of Premier League betting are very familiar with the Croatian, who arrived in English football in 2018.

From teenage prodigy at Dinamo Zabreg, Kovacic has played for four of the biggest names in sports betting in Inter, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
He might not have won as many individual accolades as some of his peers, but he has been an important player on several very successful teams.
How Much Is Mateo Kovacic Worth?
Some estimations believe Mateo Kovacic has a net worth in the region of £60 million. Others provide a much lower figure.
Ultimately, not all of Kovačić’s business dealings are made public, and we can’t have an exact figure for how he has spent or saved his vast earnings from his football career.

Endorsements inevitably bolster a footballer’s income - not that a player of Kovačić’s calibre needs it.
While not as marketable as some of his teammates (looking at you, Jack Grealish!), Kovačić will still have a lucrative boot deal and other promotions that further increase his revenue.
What Is Mateo Kovacic's Salary?
While he’s unlikely to make many lists of the greatest Premier League midfielders, Mateo Kovačić is clearly an elite player at the position.
His £150,000 a week salary reflects this and is perhaps lower than expected given his decorated list of former clubs. Per Spotrac, his salary is the same at Manchester City as it was at Chelsea (£7.8 million per year).
This is tied with Moises Caicedo, Christian Eriksen, and Alisson Becker, among others. Kovačić earns less than James Maddison, Marc Cucurella, Harry Maguire, and Antony. In fact, there are a total of 17 Premier League midfielders earning more per week than Kovačić.
City seem to have the Croatian on a relative bargain of a deal considering some of the players who earn more – Kovačić is certainly in the top-10 central midfielders in the Premier League.
Move To Manchester City
Mateo Kovačić joined Manchester City from Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window. The deal was reported to be worth £25 million, potentially rising to £30 million with performance-related add-ons.
When the signing was announced, Kovačić described it as a ‘dream’.
"This is a brilliant move for me, and I cannot wait to get started with City. Anyone who has watched this team under Pep knows how good they are – for me, they are the best in the world.
"The trophies they have won are clear to see, but they are also the best footballing side out there. To be joining this squad really is a dream for any footballer.
"I still have plenty of learning and developing to do, and I know under Pep’s management I can become a better player, which is really exciting for me.
"My plan now is to rest for a few weeks before coming back to Manchester to prepare for the new season. I want to help this club stay at the top and win more trophies."
Kovacic - set to feature in Euro 2024 Group B betting tips this summer - went on to make 46 appearances in his first season with City. He started 21 matches across the Premier League and Champions League
City won the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, but were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid and lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United - with Guardiola opting to take Kovacic off at half-time.
How Tall Is Mateo Kovacic?
Mateo Kovačić stands at 5’10 (177 centimetres). He’s around the average height of a Premier League midfielder.
Kovačić weighs 78 kilograms. His game is not dependent on his physical attributes, but he knows how to use his body to dispossess opponents and protect the ball.
Neither quick nor slow, the Croatian relies on his excellent close control.
Interest In Cars
Like most footballers, Mateo Kovačić has a collection of expensive cars. A mix of pure speed and luxury, we aren’t aware of every car the Croatian owns.
According to one source, however, the former Chelsea midfielder has an Audi Q7, a Mercedes GLE Coupe, and a Mercedes G63.
The latter, in particular, has become a very popular car with elite footballers over the last few years.
Achievements And Trophies
Mateo Kovačić has won 20 trophies across his career - making him one of the most decorated players in football. A league champion in England and Spain, Kovačić has won four Champions Leagues, a Europa League, four Club World Cups, and four UEFA Super Cups.
His individual trophies are few and far between, but that reflects an excellent team player for several great sides.
Kovačić is a cog in the machine rather than being the star for his side, which is why he’s been such a great complimentary piece next to some all-time greats for Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Croatia.
