There might not be any matches to analyse for Premier League betting purposes in June, but those looking for a sports betting angle have no shortage of options.
There are multiple international tournaments this summer, including the Gold Cup and Under-21 Euros.
June also means a fortnight at the All England Club and a showdown between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s.
Let’s take a look through the top events in June 2025.
World Test Championship Final
South Africa won six Test matches in a row to book their place in the World Test Championship final. The Proteas take on an all-conquering Australia team fresh off an emphatic 3-1 series win over India.
The final will take place at Lord’s, starting on 11th June. Australia, who beat India in the final two years ago, are the favourites, but it would be naïve to write off a South Africa team with a formidable pace-bowling attack and a much-improved batting lineup.
A packed crowd is expected at the Home of Cricket with over 200,000 South Africans and 80,000 Australians living in the UK.
UEFA European Under-21 Championship
The 25th edition of the under-21 Euros takes place in Slovakia this summer.
Hosts Slovakia face Spain in the opening match in Bratislava on 11th June. The same stadium, Tehelné pole, hosts the final on 28th June.
Holders England should progress easily from their group. Spain and Italy – each five-time champions – are in Group A. France and Portugal share Group C with Poland and Georgia, while the Netherlands have the most favourable draw in Group D.
Andrea Pirlo, Mesut Özil, Frank Lampard, and Manuel Neuer have all shone at previous European Under-21 Championships. Which players will breakout in Slovakia this summer?
Golf US Open
Held at Oakmont Golf Course between 12th and 15th June, the US Open is the third of the four golf majors. Bryson DeChambeau, winner in 2024, is looking to become only the seventh golfer to win more than two US Opens.
This is the first time Oakmont has hosted the US Open since 2016 when Dustin Johnson lifted the trophy.
Eight of the last 10 US Open winners have been Americans, with Scottie Scheffler priced as the pre-tournament betting favourite this time around.
Wimbledon
Starting on 30th June, Wimbledon only just sneaks into this article. Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejčíková are the defending singles champions.
Aryna Sabalenka is the betting favourite to win the women’s title, while Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the top two in the men’s draw at the time of writing.
This year sees the 138th edition of the oldest tennis tournament in the world.
Crowds will be flocking to SW19 for throughout the fortnight, despite limited hopes for British players in the main draws.
NBA & NHL Drafts
Which team will get Cooper Flagg? Will Matthew Schaefer go first overall in the NHL Entry Draft? The NBA and NHL Drafts are an opportunity for teams to stock up on young talent.
After a weak 2024 class, the 2025 NBA class is expected to be very strong with elite top-end talent and plenty of depth.
Over in the NHL, it’s considered a top-heavy group, with some franchise talent in the top few picks, but it quickly drops off after that.
With Victor Wembanyama quickly transforming the fortunes of the San Antonio Spurs, front offices are looking at Flagg as a similarly transformative talent.
As ever, the two Drafts also mean plenty of activity on the trade market, so keep an eye out for breaking news in the second half of June.
Current scheduling has the NHL Draft taking place on the 25th and 26th with the NBA Draft on the 26th.
